Good day, everyone. I know my LJ is pretty much abandoned, and I'm HORRIBLE at actually reading peoples LJ posts. I apologize that I have drifted. But as for me, some updates: I'm taking driving lessons, and should have my license within the next month or so. I'm working with Gaslight Studios these days. There's no pay in it quite yet, but we've got several projects going, including a 'shooter' style game in the vein of Smash TV [for those of you that remember it], and several iPhone applications [Still not a big iFan, but I digress]. The 'shooter' game is Jimbo and Skeeter vs the Apocalypse. For now, the website is just a front 'teaser' page, but there will be more there, down the line! As that there's no money in it, currently, I'm job hunting like CRAZY. I never actually posted about it at the time, but my previous employer fired me two days before Christmas. Great people, eh? So, in summary: My time is currently going toward spending time with Amanda, working with Gaslight Studios, doing driving lessons, looking for a job. The rest is being burned on Plurk [ join here!] and Twitter [ Tweet to me here!], whee! :D I don't know how many people actually still read my posts, but if you're still out there, and there's stuff you want to tell me about, tell me all about it! This is the point that I'd say 'I'll post more from now, promise!' but... I can't promise that. I *can* promise I'll post a little more frequently than 'once every three months'. Sound fair? ~ Bry Current Mood: accomplished Current Music: Theme to 'Bones', on my TV!

I had a really great b-day weekend and b-day itself, and got me some cool stuff!
I got some weird stuff from my mom... a talking stress head, a digital coin counter, and a gift certificate for Red Lobster. :D
From Manda, I got oodles of pirate-themed stuff... some Star Wars comics (which I really should read) and a really awesome thing: a matte framed sheet of Yoda stamps! :D :D :D *nerdgasm*
From Tif and Bridge, I gots a Wii! (which is also half Manda's, since it was a combo prezzie for both of us) Once I find out what the heck my friend code is, I'll share it here. I dunno where to look for it! I'm sure if I play around a bit (maybe even... read the instructions?!) I'll sort it out. :) I also bought myself a game... Zack & Wiki, which is really fun. ^-^
And from Manda's uncle... I got a bike! I'm in the process of learning how to ride it, with Manda's help. I'm hoping to be 'on the road' in the next few weeks. After that, I'll be wooshing around all over the place! And hopefully, losing more weight. I'm eating better, and scooting a lot, so I'm losing slowly. I've lost about 10 lbs in the past 2 months or so. My goal weight is 180, so I've got a ways to go.
In other news...
I'm officially working at a startup video game company. There's no money in it so far, but it's a lot of fun! My current position is lead level designer. Sadly, due to NDA, I can't really talk much about anything I'm working on, but I CAN say that it's going to be cool! :D I'll find out what I *am* allowed to say, and will share it with you guys. We have a webpage, but it's only a splash page at the moment. www.gaslightstudios.net
I think that's all I have to share at the moment, but if I think of anything else, I'll be sure to post about it!

It's funny. I keep promising I'll post more, and then, several months later, I say it again. I really haven't followed through on any LJ promises for quite some time!
I do wonder who still keeps up with this thing, since posts only pop up every 3-6 months as of late. I do miss posting more frequently, but I don't want it to become a dull diatribe of my daily workplace whatnots. I think that's the main reason I don't post much. Work isn't terribly interesting, except for the things that bug me. I know LJ is meant as a place to let it all out, but I prefer it to be a place to keep in touch with my friends. Since I haven't been doing that, it makes me wonder, sometimes, why I still have an LJ.
I'd like to promise I'll post more, but I've been trying hard to break myself of making promises I might not be able to keep. So, I'll say 'I'll try to post more frequently than once every three months', and see where it goes from there.
At least this time, I have news!
Since I last posted, of course a lot has happened, so I'll just bullet point (yes, those darn things again) a few things really quick!
- I got a Razor kick scooter, and have been using it for my main means of travel. That means I'm scooting about 4-6 miles a day, so I'm finally losing weight! My goal weight is 180lbs, meaning I still have a ways to go... but it doesn't seem as unattainable as it used to be. Once I drop another 10-20 lbs, maybe I'll even be confident enough to post some new pictures of myself. :)
- I'm finally on my way to being part of a video game company. It's still new, and we're only in planning stages, so I can't say much about it. Suffice to say that I'm excited for the opportunity!
- Amanda and I both got our driver permits on saturday! Maybe I'll actually be on the road sometime soon. Hide while you can! *mwahahahah*
- My birthday is a lil over two weeks away! I haven't really asked anybody for anything, and honestly, I'm not expecting a lot. I remember that I used to get really excited about birthdays... they instead serve me as a reminder of how old I am, and what I wish I'd accomplished by this age. I'll be 28, and I'm still trying to find my niche. Here's hoping I find it soon! I can't imagine the crisis I'll create for myself if I'm still 'lost' at 30.
I can't think of much else to notate, cuz it's mostly about financial stuff, or stuff I've gotten recently...and I don't want to sound spoiled or anything like that.
I guess I'll just say this: Rock Band is awesome. It's too bad that there's not more anime-style looks, cuz I would so revive 'Glompage*8'. I'm hoping I can find the art that Britt made way back then so I can design the characters right!
Okay, I think that this post is sufficiently long enough (read: erring toward a novella), so I will stop here!
... no, I'll stop ...

I went to the appointment at Kawesch Laser Center over the weekend! It was my first time actually wandering around in LA. It was kinda fun! Manda and I went to a cool store called 'Cost Plus World Market'. It was like a Pier 1 + winery + fancy cheese shop + tiny import grocery store + foreign knick-knack store. Very cool place! I even bought a little container of Nutella while I was there. (For those who don't know, Nutella is a hazelnut spread, with milk and cocoa in it. I think it's a British thing) Anyhoo! We had to take 3 busses to get down there, which was very interesting. We passed through downtown LA, Beverly Hills, and La Brea (we passed right by the tar pits!). Very pretty stuff, but also a lot of run down looking spots, too. Some were actually pretty scary, to be honest. The appointment itself went well. After waiting for over an hour to be seen (which net me an extra discount), I was told the ins and outs of LASIK, and what I can expect from it. I was also pleased to find out that I was indeed applicable for financing, so I really can do this! But... it is expensive, no matter how you look at it. It's a hard choice. I don't NEED it, but if I opt not to do it, the gift certificate is gone (which would be for the 2nd time). As Manda said, it's another bill... Which is coming as I pay off another one. I'm still mulling over it. Regardless, we're going back this saturday so they can measure my eyes and see if I am applicable for LASIK. They sounded fairly confident that I should be, but we'll see how it goes. I'm hoping I can, because I've been wearing glasses since Kindergarden (yes, seriously), and I'd just love to never have to worry about them ever again... Especially since my current glasses are being held together with super glue. (Long story, I'll explain another day, perhaps even tomorrow) I'm in this weird 'excited yet cautious' sort of place. I know what I want, but don't know if I should do it. At this point, it goes like this: - This saturday (2/24) at 2:30p, appointment for eye measurement - Next friday (3/2) at 10:00a, appointment for LASIK surgery - Next saturday (3/3) at 2:30p, Next Day Follow-Up appointment As for 'How will you get back home if you just had LASIK?'... That was an interesting thing. They have a complementary... LIMO SERVICE o.o They will pick me up before, and drop me off after. That is just TOO COOL. It's actually included in the price of the surgery! And the license plate for it is 'I CAN SEE'. Cute, neh? :] And they also say that I should be in fine shape to go to work as normal on monday, so I won't miss a single day. I'll also be getting a funky pair of goggles to protect my eyes with... I'll make sure to post a pic of me wearing them... Heheh. Speaking of pictures, I have a new one up of me 'n Manda on MySpace! Ain't we SEXY?!?I also think I should probably do 'before and after' pictures... So you can see me with no glasses! Have I ever posted a pic of me not wearing them? Hm... Oh! About the doctor's office: It's Kawesch Laser Center, located right on Santa Monica Blvd. I also recently found out Dr. Kawesch has even done LASIK for David Carradine. That is just AWESOME. :D And when we go back this weekend, we want to wander around some, see some of the sights. There will be pictures. Oh, yes, there will. Wow... This was a long post. Hope you stuck around for the whole thing! If so, you get a cookie! I'll even let you choose what kind. Tags: david carradine, glasses, kawesch, lasik Current Location: Home! I am alive! It seems like all of my posts seem to proclaim this, lately. But, I don't think that's out of line, since I don't really post too often anymore. Sorry, everybody! Anyhoo... Lots going on lately, but some is too long to tell. I'll tell a short one. Two weeks ago, I entered a contest to 'Win a free LASIK surgery by the doctor who did Jessica Simpson's LASIK'. Sadly, I didn't win the first place, but I won the runner up, which is $1500 *off* of LASIK. Soooo... Next saturday, I have an appointment for consultation to see if I'd be applicable for laser eye surgery. I hope so... My glasses busted about a week ago, and they're only being held together by some glue (which isn't made for metal). They've fallen apart 3 times so far. Meh. So that wasn't very short after all. Oh well! This one *is* short, tho: When I get my tax return, I's gettin me a Sidekick 3! :D PS: Sorry for taking so long to respond to the nudge! Current Mood: sleepy

Okay, another update! I did get a new job... In fact, I got hired by the very first place that interviewed me. I got interviewed on Tuesday, November 21st. Was called with a job offer on Wednesday, November 22nd! The pay isn't great, but I think they have plans for me outside of what I was hired for. I've started at Sari Art & Printing, Inc. in Azusa, CA. They print and put together a wide variety of things. Business cards, paperback books, catalogs, postcards, and lots else. I'm working there as a Shipping Clerk, currently. It's hard work, but I like that. So far, I've lost 3-4 pounds since I started last monday. :) Anyhow, I am alive and well. Alas, I don't think I'll be able to afford much in the way of gifts this holiday season, so if you don't mind ecards and friendly emails, give me your email addresses! Current Mood: excited

I just realized I haven't posted in about 2 months. I promised an update, and then I never gave one! I've been so darn busy... In the past two months I have done the following (at the very least!) - Settled in to Cali - Had lots and lots of Manda-time - Started a job @ PMC BanCorp (Mortgage Lender) as a Shipping Clerk - Lost the use of my SK2 due to a broken charger port - 'Downgraded' to my/Manda's old SK1 - Turned 26 (OHMIGAAA, OLD) - Visited my mum while she vacationed in Las Vegas for about... 6 hours - Made my little apartment cozy - Learned how to get up at 6am on a regular basis, and not be late for work - Starting going to sleep before midnight... often before 11pm (shocking, no?) - Decided to start learning other languages (but haven't actually started yet) - Got my computer case busted during shipping - Replaced the case with a new, sexy one with the damage claim check - Lost about 5 pounds (but want to lose about 50 more) - Saw (muthafukin') Snakes on a (muthafukin') Plane - Saw Pirates 2 (about 15 times less than I wanted to) - Done a bunch else that I can't remember at the moment. If I remember other things, I shall post them here! ...someday! Current Location: West Covina, CA Current Mood: hungry, as always
